Green Eggs and Hamilton (ft. Heather Traska)
Cole Jenkins and Heather Traska provide a beautiful celebration of two extraordinary American Storytellers in this parody of "Alexander Hamilton" from the musical Hamilton. Juxtaposition of the childhood stories of Dr. Seuss surrounded by the haunting hip-hop rhythms of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Jenkins and Traska craft a hilarious and moving narrative that criticizes American politics, deforestation, totalitarianism, rape culture, prejudice, and consumerism. Jenkins and Traska leave no stone unturned as they use nostalgic childhood figures to paint a gruesome picture of modern America through the veil of satire.
Why Should I Worry
My cover of "Why Should I Worry" from Disney's Oliver & Company (1988) by Billy Joel.
Have you ever accidentally recorded over a VHS? This piece serves as nostalgia—a love letter to the VCR/VHS era when you would break out your parents’ camcorder and make your own movies. It’s inspired by the time you accidentally recorded over your bootlegged WWF Wrestlemania X tape filming stunts on your bike. This era of lo-fi, cut and spliced visual media evolved into the jump-cut culture of YouTube. This piece also hearkens to the formative years of YouTube—a simpler time when 4:3 480p videos were filmed on point-and-shoot cameras alone in someone’s bedroom. No lighting, no intros, no personas, no paid promotions, no end cards, no studio productions, no hashtags—just simple, intimate home videos someone put on the Internet for others to see.
Strangers Like Me
My cover of "Strangers Like Me" from Disney's Tarzan (1999) by Phil Collins.
